Rep. Ilhan Omar Says She And Other Members Of The ‘Squad’ Expects Liberal Turn From Biden If Elected

Omar told “Axios on HBO” that she and other members of “The Squad” expect a liberal turn from him if he’s elected.

Joe Biden has frequently claimed that he is not a radical, a socialist, or a progressive. He claims he won the nomination because he disagreed with the radicals, socialists, and progressives. And he vehemently protests to the idea that he will be used by radical progressives within his party, claiming that he “is the Democratic party.”

But the radical socialist progressives disagree, or so says radical socialist progressive Ilhan Omar. In an interview with Axios, Rep. Ilhan Omar says that

“given the way progressives have shaped Joe Biden’s policy platform, she and other members of “The Squad” expect a liberal turn from him if he’s elected.”

Omar said,

“There has been a level of responsiveness … to the policies that we are advocating for that we know will have not just a future in his administration, but a future in the upcoming administrations after his.”

“We do want a more unified country, and we do want a space where we can debate our policy differences but not see each other as the enemy.”

But in the same interview, she also said that she would definitely not be OK with the appointment of any Republicans to Biden’s Cabinet. Let me get this straight. She wants us to be unified and not see each other as enemies, but Biden had better not dare to appoint any Republicans to his Cabinet. Seems totally unified, doesn’t it.

Self-proclaimed socialist Bernie Sanders said that Biden is set to be the “most progressive president since FDR.”

Sanders reached this conclusion as he organized and worked on task forces with Biden to construct his campaign platform and shape the future of a Biden presidency. There were actually six such task forces which Sanders said intended to

“move the Biden campaign into as progressive a direction as possible, and I think we did that. On issue after issue, whether it was education, the economy, health care, climate, immigration, criminal justice, I think there was significant movement on the part of the Biden campaign.”

The task forces called for such policies as funding for nationwide universal prekindergarten, Social Security expansion, minimum wage increases, elimination of cash bail, in addition to the other radical policies covering health care and climate change. Sanders said,

“I commend Joe Biden for working together with my campaign to assemble a group of leading thinkers and activists who can and will unify our party in a transformational and progressive direction.”

Jared Bernstein, Biden’s former economic adviser said of being on the task forces,

“I don’t think you could find any issue that we couldn’t find an agreeable resolution on, that everybody in the room said, ‘That will work.’ I don’t think you could find anything in there that he won’t want to take a very close look at. I commend the Task Forces for their service and helping build a bold, transformative platform for our party and for our country. And I am deeply grateful to Senator Sanders for working together to unite our party, and deliver real, lasting change for generations to come.”

Rep Pramila Jayapal, who co-chaired the healthcare task force, said,

“I feel like I can go and legitimately sell this as something that the movement achieved, something that we were able to do that pushed Vice President Biden further than he has been and solidified the need for universal, high-quality, low-cost coverage for everybody provided through public providers, not private insurance companies.”

While Joe Biden has only committed to reviewing the recommendations of the task forces that he put together, progressives fully expect an adoption of the recommendations if Biden is elected, and Biden has already shown his willingness to adopt progressive policies when he embraced several of Warren’s policy plans, as well as “a litany of progressives’ top wishlist items”.

Even when Joe Biden expressly stated in the presidential debate that he does not “support the Green New Deal,” progressives such as Ed Markey expressed confidence that “the progressive left is with Joe Biden, and we will pass the Green New Deal.”

The movement for a Green New Deal is going to defeat Donald Trump and his fossil fuel cronies. We’re going to elect Joe Biden and fight to pass the aggressive climate action which we need. We will work together to deliver a just and equitable future for all children.

 In an interview with Going Underground, a self-described alternative to the mainstream media, well-known Black Panther, communist politician, and social justice activist Angela Davis said she is voting for Biden because he “can be most effectively pressured by” radical progressives.

The Progressive Change Campaign Committee, which originally endorsed Senator Warren for president, now holds weekly events with the Biden campaign to discuss progressive policies. Waleed Shahid of Justice Democrats said that progressives who were not featured in the Democratic National Convention

“are going to use their leverage in Congress to fight for a progressive agenda and make sure Joe Biden is not only compromising with people like Sen. Joe Manchin and Rep. Henry Cuellar, but forced to collaborate with Reps. Ro Khanna and Pramila Jayapal.”

So when Joe Biden asks the American people if he looks like a socialist, does he expect us to just ignore all this? Or is he hoping we just don’t know about it?
