The left-wing media outlet New York Times attacked billionaire Elon Musk after he purchased Twitter for $44 billion.
The article is titled, “Elon Musk Left a South Africa That Was Rife With Misinformation and White Privilege.” It argues that Musk was “detached from apartheid’s atrocities” in South Africa and grew up “surrounded by anti-Black propaganda.”
Liberals suggest he’s been greatly influenced by misinformation and white privilege since a child.
Maye Musk fired back in defense of her son by explaining that publicly opposing apartheid would land a person in jail at the time.
Similarly, Maye notes, Russia has jailed people today for condemning the war on Ukraine.
“In South Africa, if you publicly opposed apartheid, you went to jail,” Maye Musk said in a tweet. “In Russia, if you publicly oppose the war, you go to jail.” Take a look:
In South Africa, if you publicly opposed apartheid, you went to jail. In Russia, if you publicly oppose the war, you go to jail. @nytimes are you going to blame children for decisions made by governments? #StopTheWar 🇺🇦 https://t.co/4wJt1ui0st

Maye also argued that Musk was “just a child and should not be held responsible for the actions of his government.”
“@nytimes are you going to blame children for decisions made by governments?” Maye Musk asked.
In the NYTimes piece, they write, “Mr. Musk has heralded his purchase of Twitter as a victory for free speech, having criticized the platform for removing posts and banning users.”
“It is unclear what role his childhood — coming up in a time and place in which there was hardly a free exchange of ideas and where government misinformation was used to demonize Black South Africans — may have played in that decision,” the article reads.
Liberal employees of the tech giant Twitter suffered a collective meltdown after billionaire Elon Musk purchased the platform and promised to ensure it allows for free speech.
When asked about unsettled staffers who are quitting, Musk responded, “It’s a free country.”
“Certainly if anyone doesn’t feel comfortable with that, they will on their own accord go somewhere else. That’s fine,” he said.
Musk plans to take the company private and make the algorithm “open source” in order to increase trust. Twitter has been widely criticized for censoring and shadow-banning users while operating in secrecy behind closed doors.
The billionaire has also signaled that the company will save costs related to employment.
With respect to company management, Musk said, “Board salary will be $0 if my bid succeeds, so that’s ~$3 [million]/year saved right there.”
It’s easy to see why the Left is outraged: They openly support censorship and oppose free speech.
Even Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal has admitted the company is “not to be bound by the First Amendment,” adding that free speech is de-prioritized in favor of ensuring “a healthier public conversation.”
Cassie Nick Rumbaugh, a data scientist at Twitter, is among the employees and contractors who are very upset. Rumbaugh calls Musk a “prominent transphobe,” and says his investment into Twitter “is not at all funny.”
“Looks like I picked a good week to be off,” Geri Kidd responded, who works as a recruiting manager for Twitter.
Gerard Taylor, a senior software engineer at Twitter, is also unhappy with Musk and concerned about the left-wing “company culture.”
Here’s a look at more examples from journalist Andy Ngô:
