Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) appeared on Fox News Channel’s “Sunday Morning Futures” with host Maria Bartiromo to officially welcome the nation’s police officers dealing with vaccine mandates to relocate to Florida saying, “…we’ll treat you better here.”

DeSantis also said that during the next legislative session he hopes to sign legislation that will offer a $5,000 bonus to any out of state law enforcement officer who is willing to relocate to the Sunshine state.

Gov. DeSantis Is Looking Out For Police In Florida

During his Fox News Channel appearance on Sunday, Gov. DeSantis also said:

“In Florida, not only are we going to want to protect the law enforcement, and all the jobs, we’re actually actively working to recruit out-of-state law enforcement because we do have needs in our police and our sheriffs’ departments.. So, NYPD, Minneapolis, Seattle — if you’re not being treated well, we’ll treat you better here. You can fill important needs for us, and we’ll compensate you as a result.”

While police officers were some of the first to be eligible for the vaccine as first responders, many are at odds not only with the cities they serve over vaccine mandates but now also with the Fraternal Order of Police.

The leader of the FOP is urging their members to get vaccinated. In a recent letter, officers were encouraged to “seriously consider receiving the vaccine to protect themselves and others from becoming seriously ill.”

FOP president Patrick Yoes, however, also wrote in the letter that the organization stands by an individual’s right to choose.

In fact, he states the FOP is “vehemently opposed” to any vaccine mandates coming from organization, government agencies, or otherwise.

The National Law Enforcement Memorial Fund says that 182 officers died from COVID-19 in 2020. That is reportedly more than twice the number killed by gun violence and vehicle crashes combined.

So far in 2021, 133 officers have died of COVID.

DeSantis Slams Biden On ‘Unconstitutional’ Mandates

Gov. DeSantis has called Joe Biden’s vaccine mandates “unconstitutional,” and said he will fight for the jobs of Floridians. He added that the president does not have the authority to issue such mandates.

The Florida governor continued saying, “It will wreak havoc in the economy, because even if a small percentage of these folks end up losing their jobs or voluntarily walking away, you’re going to have huge disruptions in medical, in logistics, in law enforcement.”

On Thursday during a CNN Town Hall, Biden was asked by host Anderson Cooper if he thought police officers and other first responders should be mandated to get vaccinated or should stay at home or be terminated from employment.

Biden’s response was, “Yes and yes. By the way, by the way, I waited until July to talk about mandating because I tried everything else possible. The mandates are working.”

Fending Off Effects Of Biden Economy In Florida

As the rest of the nation sees rising prices at the gas pump, the grocery store, and just about everywhere else, Florida’s economy has seen three times the amount of growth compared to the nation as a whole.

Florida’s labor force growth has increased by 5.4% over the year compared to the national growth of o.8%. The state gained 84,500 jobs for the month of September.

Gov. DeSantis also recently gave an answer to the pile up of cargo ships off the coast of California.

On October 19th DeSantis declared, “Florida ports are open for business.”

During a news conference last week, DeSantis said that Florida is not experiencing the back log of ships that the west coast is, and that Florida has the space to accommodate additional offloading of cargo.

Governor Ron DeSantis is making it clear to the Biden administration and law enforcement heroes around the nation that police officers who oppose vaccine mandates will be welcomed with open arms in Florida.

“And so in Florida, our policy is very clear: we’re gonna have a special session and we’re gonna say, nobody should lose their job based off these injections. It’s a choice you can make, but we want to make sure we’re protecting your jobs and your livelihoods.”
