One of the women who was photographed topless on a yacht with Jack Brooksbank, the husband of Princess Eugenie, has issued an apology.
Model Erica Pelosini told Daily Mail that she was one of the women who was photographed wiping herself with a towel without a top on while on a yacht with Brooksbank. The photo made headlines around the world because Eugenie was at home at the time that the image was taken.
“I usually never go topless, but my bikini got wet and I decided to take it off,” she said. “I know it does not look right for Jack and his family. I felt very bad for them when I saw the images of him surrounded by three women because his wife was not there.”
Pelosini, 35, added that she is “very sorry if I caused any embarrassment to Princess Eugenie and Jack,” and that taking off her top “wasn’t appropriate.”
“It led people to make improper suggestions and jump to conclusions and it’s very hurtful that people are thinking this,” she continued.
Brooksbank was on a business trip at the time that the photo was taken. Eugenie’s mother Sarah Ferguson defended him, saying in a recent interview that he “was on doing his job.”
“Jack, who was on the front page, is a man of such integrity. He’s just one of my most favorite people, I call him James Bond actually,” she said. “He’s just a superhero in my book, and he’s a great father, a fabulous husband, and he’s never at front of house, he always likes to be at the back. So for them to make this story is completely fabricated, he works as an ambassador for Casamigos, and he was on doing his job, and so I think it’s really important that we clarify that for Jack‘s sake.”
Eugenie is the younger daughter of Ferguson and Prince Andrew, and she is the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth. She has been married to Brooksbank since October of 2018, and they welcomed their first child together back in February. This child was a baby boy whom they named August.
