NBC is being criticized and labeled as “anti-Semitic,” due to a contovercial scene from the show “Nurses,” according to Fox News.
In the show, a Hasidic patient refused a bone graft from a “goyim,” which is an Arab or a woman.
Seffi Kogen, leader of The American Jewish Committee, said, “I think this is the most antisemitic thing I have ever seen in a TV show.”

“For those of you unfamiliar with Jewish law, which puts precedent on healing and saving lives, there is no prohibition on the kind of bone graft in this clip. The writers made it up, dressed their actors in Jew-face, and put random extremist nonsense in their mouths,” Kogen wrote.
Many took to Twitter in agreement.
This is straight up anti-Semitism. There is NOTHING in Jewish law that remotely approaches anything the Jews say in this clip. https://t.co/t2aY01Pn88

The look, language, discussion of Jewish law. They literally got everything wrong.
Writers, directors, actors etc. should all be ashamed.
But they won’t be. Jews. No biggie.
Ask yourself: Would this happen with any other religion/people? That’s how you know it’s anti-semitic. https://t.co/IgLDftyn4q

This is the worst minute of television I have ever seen. It is 100% anti-semitic, and there is no jewish law covering what they are discussing. @nbc @nbcnurses should be ashamed. #NBC #NursesNBC https://t.co/CCIvWStZlW

I guess “Jew face” is ok but “black face” is racist. And while full blown lying about how a family would handle a situation…. this world is disgusting https://t.co/s5aLB2eLsU

I have a very good Jewish friend whose life was saved by a kidney donation from a Christian stranger. She read about his situation on Facebook and decided to save his life with one of her organs. The idea that we Jews wouldn’t accept such generosity is anti-semitism straight up. https://t.co/ng4NE8bwNP

And thinks why we need a media detox. This is a straight up lie. Jewish law puts saving life above everything else. These are actors dressed liked Jews to make Jews look bad. This is anti-Semitic and NBC should be ashamed. https://t.co/W3DGGWO0rl

“Unfortunately, ADL has tracked multiple ‘Weekend Update’ jokes this season that inappropriately use Jews as the punchline. I know they can do better,” ADL CEO Jonathan A. Greenblatt said.
“In that spirit, I reached out to Lorne Michaels over the weekend urging ‘Saturday Night Live’ to take action both to repair the damage that’s been done and ensure that this does not happen again.”
From Fox News:
“Nurses,” filmed and set in Toronto, is a Canadian medical drama that was acquired by NBC in 2020. The show follows five young nurses working at a busy downtown hospital.
NBC did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Last weekend, “SNL” cast member Michael Che came under fire for a joke he made during the “Weekend Update” segment. “Israel is reporting that they’ve vaccinated half of their population. I’m going to guess it’s the Jewish half,” Che said on the long-running NBC show.
The statement drew attention on social media causing an uproar with viewers and sparked a petition from the AJC for NBC “to retract its outrageous claim and apologize immediately.”
