This coming Sunday, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey is set to air, and those close to Prince William and Kate Middleton say that they are absolutely dreading it.

A source told Page Six that William and Kate are “surrounded by goodness” and do not want to get involved in the “soap opera” that surrounds Harry and Meghan at all times.

“William and Catherine could not be more discreet, they don’t want to get involved in this public bitch fest, but I am sure that William is desperately sad about all this,” the royal source said. “Even when Harry spoke about the fallout with William, there was no briefing from them. And by saying nothing, that is the smartest move.”

Though William and Kate make it a point to listen to the advisers surrounding them, the source added that “it appears that Meghan and Harry are listening to no one.”

“They don’t wish to elevate this soap opera — it’s honestly like watching Elizabeth Hurley in ‘The Royals,’” the insider said. “William and Catherine are surrounded by goodness, they have the Middletons, Carole and Mike, Pippa and her husband, James, and James Middleton and his fiancée, Alizee. They’re such a grounded, happy family.”

Another source told US Magazine that William and Queen Elizabeth are “furious” about the interview.

“They feel that by sharing [Harry and Meghan’s] side of the story, the entire royal family will be painted in an unfair way,” this source said.

Meghan and Harry will be sitting down with Oprah, who happens to be their neighbor, for “Oprah With Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special,” which is set to air on March 7.

“Oprah Winfrey as she sits down with Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, for an intimate conversation for an exclusive primetime special,” states a press release for the special. “Winfrey will speak with Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, in a wide-ranging interview, covering everything from stepping into life as a Royal, marriage, motherhood, philanthropic work to how she is handling life under intense public pressure.’

Gayle King, Oprah’s best friend, previously said that “nothing is off limits” in the interview.

“I know she’s been working on the questions all weekend long,” King said of Winfrey. “I’m told nothing is off limits, nothing is off limits. She can ask anything she wants.”
