Queen Elizabeth shocked everyone this week when she officially entered the beer business!

Buckingham Palace confirmed to People Magazine that the Queen, 95, has approved the sale of a range of beer brewed from plants grown on her Sandringham estate in Norfolk. The beers will be sold at $5.50 for a 500ml bottle at the Sandringham gift shop, and they will come in two varieties: a cold-filtered, traditional English “bitter” and a stronger Golden IPA described by the gift shop as “uniquely natural.”

The beers are made locally by the Barsham Brewery in Norfolk using organic Laureate Spring barley grown, and the beautiful bottles feature the Sandringham name alongside pictures of a hare and a pheasant.

“Made in the UK for the Sandringham Estate,” the label states. “The Sandringham Estate is a wildlife haven for Pheasants, Hares, Owls and many other species thrive in the wood and farmland habitats.”

Many royal fans may be surprised to learn that this is not actually the first time that the Queen has tried her hand at selling alcohol. The gift shop at Sandringham already sells its own Celebration Gin, which is made in a distillery on the estate.

Last year, Buckingham Palace began selling its own gin made from ingredients found in the backyard of the Queen’s London home. The Royal Collection Trust charity released a statement on Tuesday announcing a new variety of gin distilled using the classic Buckingham Palace gin mixed with “hand-picked whole sloe berries.”

This new gin variety is being sold for $41 a bottle, and the hand-picked fruits reportedly gives the gin “a unique and intense fruit flavor,” according to the release.

The Queen could certainly use some distractions right now, as she is still mourning Prince Philip, her husband of 73 years who passed away on April 9. When she celebrated her 95th birthday days later on April 21, the Queen released a rare personal statement paying tribute to him and thanking the public for their support.

“I have, on the occasion of my 95th birthday today, received many messages of good wishes, which I very much appreciate,” the Queen said. “While as a family we are in a period of great sadness, it has been a comfort to us all to see and to hear the tributes paid to my husband, from those within the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and around the world.”

“My family and I would like to thank you all for the support and kindness shown to us in recent days,” she added. “We have been deeply touched, and continue to be reminded that Philip had such an extraordinary impact on countless people throughout his life.”
