Another day, another dose of batsh*ttery. I give you TODAY’S dose of crazy, straight from the higher-educational bowels of Illinois, where super-woke-academic folks want to ban the word obesity, because “focusing on body size is rooted in racism.”
Sigh.
Multiple woke academics now claim the word ‘obesity’ is racist and should be dropped in favor of ‘people with larger bodies.’
“Multiple woke academics, y’all.” I couldn’t make this crap up if I tried.
The University of Illinois Chicago‘s school of public health published a health brief titled: ‘Addressing weight stigma and fatphobia in public health’ that explored ‘the association between racism, weight, and health.’
Way to be innovative there, academic community! I mean, there’s been a 50% increase in suicide in teenage girls over the past two years, but listen, public health peeps – y’all should totally be focusing on semantics rather than A NATIONAL FREAKING PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY OMG WTF.
Y’all are like, super smart. Is this why people are clamoring to pay so much for college these days?
According to Amanda Montgomery RD, public health’s focus on preventing obesity has brought in an increase of negative attitudes towards ‘people with larger bodies’ – her preIt goes on to say that ferred alternative term – and is currently one of the only socially acceptable forms of discrimination.
Riiiight.
My favorite part of the article:
America is the fattest country in the western world with an estimated 40 percent of people — or 138 million — being obese. It is followed by New Zealand (30 percent), Canada (29.4 percent) and Australia (29 percent).
Yes – so we shouldn’t call it what it is. Just like the Biden Administration shouldn’t call out any crises when they are actually crises. Why would we want to actually IDENTIFY a problem in order to solve that problem? So. MEAN. And racist, even! Speaking of Biden, He’s gonna handle it, y’all:
President Joe Biden will reveal his plans for tackling obesity this September, and has already set targets of improving physical activity and reducing diet-related diseases — like type 2 diabetes — nationally.
Biden’s going to handle it, everyone. Just like he’s handled the border, the economy, foreign policy, unifying the country, national security…
Yep. BIDEN is going to handle OBESITY. In September.
