Remember when Biden essentially gave Putin the green light to invade Ukraine by implying that a “minor incursion” was fine with the US?

Well, he’s at it again. But this time, he’s talking about chemical warfare.
“We would respond. We would respond if he uses it. The nature of the response would depend on the nature of the use,” Biden says when asked whether the US or NATO would respond with military action if Russia uses chemical weapons.

Seriously, this is the weakest response ever. No warning? No threatening? No clear and forceful message to the violent invading dictator about the swift and terrible consequences that Russia and Putin will face if they engage in chemical warfare?
Put yourself in Putin’s shoes for a minute and imagine what he must think when he hears this kind of non-answer from the President of the United States. If you’ve already committed (and officially been accused of) war crimes while entrenching the entire world in your war, and Biden has already proven to be ridiculously weak and acquiescent, then this probably doesn’t seem like much of a deterrent to you. You’ve come this far already and Biden’s US really isn’t all that scary. Kind of sounds like maybe minor chemical warfare will be fine, just like Biden said a minor incursion was fine. Kind of makes it seem like it might be worth trying because maybe the US won’t really respond. That’s actually so terrifying. But that’s what happens when you have an incredibly weak leader involved in global conflict with people who play by their own set of rules.
