This week, President Joe Biden (D) and Vice President Kamala Harris (D) will announce more presidential gun controls. These controls will focus on 3-D printed guns and switches that can turn pistols into fully automatic weapons.
When it comes to 3-D printed guns, The Hill said that they “sometimes are even invisible by metal detectors.” (The Hill did not say how metal bullets and brass bullet cases can be hidden.)
According to the White House, Biden and Harris’s executive gun control measures will “create an emerging firearm threat taskforce, which will have to give a report within 90 days. The report will include an analysis of the dangers posed by these guns, the legal and operational abilities of federal agencies to find and seize them, a plan to fight them, and how much money the administration needs from the Congress to crack down on them.”
The Hill said that full-auto conversion buttons for handguns are already against the law.
The White House says it will “Direct the Secretary of Education and the Secretary of Homeland Security, along with the Attorney General, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, and the U.S. Surgeon General, to lay out the best ways to do school-based active shooter drills.”
Executive gun control is something that both Biden and Harris agree on. And in 2019, Harris said, “Gun crime is the top cause of death for young Black men in America. This has to stop. If I become president, I will make sure that guns don’t get into the wrong hands.”
