Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you to Seth Brenzel: Seth Brenzel is a gay man living in San Francisco with his husband and their mixed-race daughter. He has long been dedicated to the improvement of public education and children’s programs in his community. He is the executive director of a music program for children, volunteered extensively at his daughter’s school, and has been concerned about the impact distance learning and school closures have on children. Instead of just talking about it, Brenzel wanted to make a real difference by getting involved in the parent advisory council.
The all-female and entirely-voluntary parent advisory council unanimously supported his desire to join the council, which currently has only 10 of the 15 council member seats filled. The committee thus submitted Brenzel’s name to be approved by the San Francisco School Board. Not only is he well-qualified, Brenzel would be the only father and only member of the LGBTQ community on the parent advisory council and thus would contribute a different and much-needed perspective.
And here’s where the story gets ridiculous…
The San Francisco School Board debated for hours and ultimately refused to even vote on his approval, asking the parent advisory council to find and submit alternate candidates for them to consider instead.
Guess why they wouldn’t approve him.
Seriously, guess.
Because. He. Is. White.

If that sounds despicable, racist, and discriminatory, that’s because it is really despicable, racist, and discriminatory. Unfortunately, it’s also completely acceptable to the woke progressive mob.
He isn’t “diverse” enough. The gay father of a mixed-race daughter, experienced and qualified, with a desire to be engaged and involved in working for the well-being of the children in his community has been denied a volunteer spot on the parent advisory council specifically because his skin is white.
San Francisco Chronicle columnist, Heather Knight, took to Twitter about the absolutely ludicrous situation.
The SF school board tonight spent two hours talking about whether to allow a gay dad of mixed-race SFUSD kids to volunteer for one of several empty seats on a parent advisory group. Their problem was that he’s white and doesn’t bring diversity to the group. 1/2

The man literally just wants to volunteer in a parents advisory group to advocate for the best interest of the kids, and they spent hours discussing how he’s simply not diverse enough to be allowed to volunteer for that position. But seven hours’ worth of School Board discussion didn’t even include any talk about how to safely reopen schools. Because “diversity” is their priority, not the actual education and wellbeing of the children in their school district.
The parent advisory council currently has two Black, one Asian, three “Latinx,” one Pacific Islander, and three White members, every single one of them female. And his “white queer” self wasn’t diverse enough. (Their words, not mine.)

And they aren’t even trying to pretend like it’s anything else.
In the hours-long school board debate, one person identified as Tara said of the parent advisory council,
“They are not a diverse group of parents as far as I have seen, I have noticed and have observed.”
Others offered statements about how the parent advisory council “does not even mirror Joe Biden’s cabinet,” and “the white members are over-represented on the P.A.C.” while “Arab, Vietnamese, Native American folks,” and “Chinese parents and Chinese-speaking parents” are under-represented. Some comments even went as far as to equate his potential appointment to “white supremacy.”
School Board Commissioner Matt Alexander, who described himself as the only white school board member, said that he’s not saying white parents can’t be involved but that “white parents also in the city tend to have a lot of privilege and power and access the board of ed in various ways.”
Very literally, the San Francisco School Board is denying this qualified, involved, and engaged gay father a spot on the voluntary parent advisory council because his skin is white.
Because other “voices need to be heard first before white queer voices.”
All voices are equal, but some voices are more equal than “white queer voices.”
If this sounds like “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others” from Orwell’s Animal Farm, thank you for paying attention.
