Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck shocked their millions of fans when they rekindled their romance two months ago seventeen years after they called off their engagement. Now, a 2016 interview has resurfaced that Affleck may not be a fan of, as Lopez used it to trash his “awful” back tattoo of a phoenix.
“It’s awful!” Lopez said while appearing on “Watch What Happens Live!” “But I would tell him that. I would tell him like, ‘What are you doing?’”
“It has too many colors,” she continued, doubling down on the criticism. “His tattoos always have too many colors. They shouldn’t be so colorful. You know what I mean? They should be like… cooler, I don’t know.”
Affleck later claimed to Extra TV in an interview that it was “fake for a movie.” However, when he was spotted with that tattoo again two years later, he came clean and said it was real. Fox News reported that he defended the tattoo in a 2019 interview with Ellen DeGeneres.
“It’s meaningful to me, I like it. It’s something that I sort of kept private. It wasn’t like I was sort of doing photo shoots or whatever,” Affleck said. “We didn’t know the paparazzi was there so they got a picture of my tattoo and yeah the sentiment ran against.”
“I love my tattoo,” he added. “I’m very happy with it.”
Lopez and Affleck reunited back in May, one month after she broke off her engagement to baseball legend Alex Rodriguez. She and Affleck had previously started dating in 2001 and were engaged from 2002 until early 2004. They would each go on to marry others and have children before divorcing their respective parents.
A source told Fox News this week that Lopez, 52, “is accepting the gift of happiness at this stage in her life.”
“Jennifer is happy and appreciative that into her 50s she can still do what she loves doing – which today, allows her to feel younger given her overall approach to health consciousness and the fact she keeps herself very active,” the insider continued. “She has health and family which is all she needs to make herself whole.”
