Fans of singer and talk show host Kelly Clarkson are in shock right now after she filed for divorce from Brandon Blackstock, who she had been married to for nearly seven years.

Court documents first obtained by The Blast show that Clarkson, 38, actually filed for divorce from Blackstock on June 4. The couple had two children together during their marriage, a 5 year-old daughter River and a 4 year-old son Remington. Blackstock also had two older children from a previous marriage.

This comes one month after Clarkson put their Los Angeles mansion on the market for nearly $10 million. Blackstock is a former country music manager who is also the stepson of Reba McEntire, according to Fox News. He is believed to currently be working on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” with his wife, which could be awkward going forward, depending on how amicable the divorce is.

Clarkson and Blackstock reportedly met back in 2006 at a rehearsal for the Academy of Country Music Awards, and they married seven years later in 2013.

“If I sat here and told you that everything was perfect, that’d be a damn lie in anybody’s relationship,” Clarkson told fans during a Facebook Live in November 2018. “But you have to work at it.”

When asked how she avoids keeping score in her marriage, Clarkson responded by admitting that marriage is a learning process.

“I don’t think it’s a score. I think it’s keeping a tally of how many discussions you’ve had, I think it’s that,” she said. “Honestly, it goes both ways. Like my husband feels like he constantly needs to talk about the same thing; I feel like the same thing with him. There [are] always things you’re working on.”

Clarkson became a household name after she won the first season of “American Idol” back in 2003. She has gone on to have numerous hits, become a judge on “The Voice,” and is now a successful talk show host.
