Liberals Force Visa To Restrict What You Can Buy

Visa has given in to pressure from gun control activists and New York Democrats and will reclassify gun purchases so that they can be flagged.

Breitbart News reported on August 28, 2022, that Gabby Giffords’ gun control group, which is called Giffords, was encouraging major credit institutions to highlight purchases of guns and ammunition via a new sales classification.

“The perpetrators in at least 5 mass killings have stocked up firearms & ammo using credit cards and killed 145 people,” Giffords wrote in a tweet. The ability to identify suspicious purchases and save lives is provided by Mastercard, Visa, and American Express. Ask them to take action.

On August 30, Breitbart News reported that Democratic lawmakers in New York were pleading with the nation’s largest credit card firms to develop a new firearms-specific category code that would effectively mark gun purchases made both in the state and across the nation.

Breitbart News reported on September 7, 2022, that New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D) had urged Visa, American Express, and Mastercard to “do their share” for gun regulation.

According to the Associated Press, Visa will reclassify “sales at gun shops” and gun purchases on September 10, 2022.

According to the AP, “[This] is a huge victory for gun control supporters who claim that it would enable them to better watch suspicious spikes in gun transactions that could signal the beginning of a mass massacre.”

Purchases of firearms and ammunition have previously been listed under a broad category, such as sporting goods.

However, as a result of Visa’s decision to accede to Democratic and gun control group requests, such purchases will have a special firearm-related appellation, making them simpler to detect.

In response to Visa’s move to reclassify gun purchases, the NRA stated:

The ISO’s plan to establish a code specifically for firearms “is nothing more than a surrender to anti-gun lawmakers and campaigners determined on destroying the freedoms of law-abiding Americans one purchase at a time,” according to the statement.”
