MSNBC’s Joy Reid Uses Racial Slur About Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas

Last night, amid the election results chaos, Joy Reid from MSNBC said something that made every viewer cringe. Speaking about the possibility of litigation in order to determine election results, she said,

“If somehow they manage to stumble into the Supreme Court, do any of you guys expect Uncle Clarence and Amy Coney Barrett and those guys to actually follow the letter of the law?”

Yes, you heard that right. On national television in front of thousands of viewers, Joy Reid referred to the Honorable Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas as “Uncle Clarence.” Of course she’s implying that Justice Thomas is an “Uncle Tom,” because apparently to Joy, an incredibly intelligent and successful black American man who has ascends to the highest court in the land is an “Uncle Tom” if he doesn’t agree with her.

Not sure what an “Uncle Tom” is? Well, I’ll tell you, but prepare yourself because it’s despicable. According to Urban Dictionary,

An “Uncle Tom” is a derogatory term to describe a black man who “acts white” and “talks white,” or who is a sell-out to his own race. A black man who kisses white people’s asses, and who will turn his back on other black people to keep the approval of whites. A sell-out, an ass kisser, a race traitor. I’ve also heard people describe an ” Uncle Tom” as a whitewashed black man. A black man who may have been raised by white people, and who therefore has the manorisms and behaviors of a white man. He would also speak like a “dorky/nerdy” white man. A black man, who, while speaking to over the phone, one would think they were talking to a white man. “Colin Powell is an Uncle Tom. Condaliza Rice is a female version of an Uncle Tom.”

Now, in this age of cancel culture, what are the odds that she will face any sort of professional consequences for her blatant racism on national television? I’m betting there’s a 0% chance of any repercussions because it’s really only racist if it fit a certain narrative.
