Days after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s explosive tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, a royal expert is speaking out to say that Prince William will have a difficult time reconciling with his brother in the wake of it.
“I think it’s incredibly hard for the brothers to reconcile their differences right now, especially after the interview,” Nick Bullen, the co-founder and editor-in-chief of True Royalty TV, told Fox News. “Too much has happened. But I think they will find a way of being together for the unveiling of their mother’s statue on July 1st, which would have been her 60th birthday. And both of her sons wanted this statute unveiling to happen.”
“They would both want to honor her and both have committed to doing so,” he added. “And the plan is still on. What happens now is anybody’s guess, but I would imagine that they will be together on the first of July.”
“You know, if Diana were alive, she’d probably bang their heads together and say, ‘Sort this out,’” Bullen continued. “So I have no doubt they will sort things out somehow in time for the unveiling in honor of their mother.”
During their interview, Meghan claimed that she was hit with racism from within the royal family, claiming that an unnamed senior royal questioned how dark her then-unborn son Archie’s skin would be. Harry refused to name this family member, only saying that it was neither Queen Elizabeth nor Prince Philip.
“The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan,” the royal family said in a statement obtained by Fox News. “The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately. Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members.”
Royal expert Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight that “William is devastated by this interview. Don’t forget that the Duchess of Cambridge is being dragged into this whole saga and William will hate that and of course, relationship between father and son is of course at an all-time low.”
“I think that the idea that Kate’s being dragged into this will be upsetting for Kate who behind the scenes has tried really hard to be a peacemaker between William and Harry,” the expert continued. “She has been deeply saddened by the brothers’ falling out. Don’t forget she was incredibly close to Harry herself.”
