RINO’s Romney, Murkowski, and Collins to Skip GOP Convention, Report Says

Well, it is only fitting that Mitt Romney (R-UT), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), and Susan Collins (R-ME) are skipping the Republican National Convention.

It is, after all, the REPUBLICAN National Convention.

These three are Republicans In Name Only about 75% of the time.

Mitt Romney voted earlier in the year to convict President Trump in the impeachment trial. Lisa Murkowski outrageously voted against confirming Brett Kavanaugh on the basis of exactly zero evidence. Murkowski and Collins also voted against the Obamacare repeal, along with the original party traitor, John McCain (may he Rest In Peace).

Romney, Murkowski, and Collins seem to revel in the attention of their hemming and hawing over big decisions and breaking with the party.

Once in a while they come through, but even when they do, they often qualify their support. For example, Murkowski did not vote to convict President Trump in the impeachment trial, but did call Trump’s behavior “shameful and wrong.”

Sens. Mitt Romney (R-Utah), Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) will not attend the GOP convention next month in Florida, aides for the senators confirmed to The Hill.

An aide for Collins noted that she was never planning to attend the GOP convention because she does not go when she herself is up for reelection. Collins is in a tight race this year that could be pivotal in determining who holds the Senate majority in the next Congress.

Spokespeople for Romney and Murkowski didn’t immediately respond to follow-up questions about whether their plans were related to the coronavirus as the country sees an increase in cases.

Both senators have had high-profile clashes with Trump; Romney was the only Republican senator to vote to impeach the president earlier this year, while Murkowski opposed ObamaCare’s repeal and Supreme Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination.

Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN) is also skipping as he is retiring and Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) is not attending due to COVID-19.

It’s all good! It’ll be a better party without them there.
