Sarah Silverman tried to have a twitter “gotcha” moment with a tweet that was sent by Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler.
This the senator’s tweet that sparked Sarah Silverman to respond:
.@BernieSanders may not appear on the ballot in November, but the last four years have made it clear that his radical socialist ideas will be. We must continue our fight against the radical left and keep America a place of freedom, hope, and individual liberty.
— Kelly Loeffler (@KLoeffler) April 8, 2020
In the tweet, Senator Loeffler talks about the repercussions of Bernie Sanders’ campaign. To her, the threat of “his radical socialist ideas” will have a lasting effect on American politics and one that needs to be fought to preserve America as a “place of freedom, hope, and individual liberty.”
*A lot like the liberties she took investing in companies that would profit from the pandemic with knowledge not given to the American public, but I digress.*
To any other American, this tweet is something to agree with. We definitely want to keep America free of harmful socialist policies. We also want to keep America a place of freedom, hope, and individual liberty.
What could Sarah Silverman have an issue with, you ask?
Apparently, Sarah Silverman had a problem with Senator Loeffler’s negative views of socialism. The challenge for Silverman is it became apparent that she wasn’t paying attention in her socialism 101 class.
The blue checkmark group, @DemSocialists, were quick to call Sarah out for spouting misinformation about socialism. Sarah’s central point for socialism is that as conservatives, we typically support the men and women that serve as police, firefighters, and military members. Sarah called these professions programs of socialism.
Her fellow socialists don’t like the idea of the police and military under the same umbrella of socialism.
These people believe that the police and military and I quote “serve to protect private, capitalist interests.”
Police, Firefighters, and the military are not socialist programs.
From the beginning of civilization, big cities have formed governments to deal with specific functions to expensive or time consuming for one citizen to take on, especially if these functions are going to benefit the whole society.
Besides, according to the Democratic Socialists: “Socialism is the democratic control of the means of production by workers and ensuring an equitable distribution of wealth.”
None of those so-called socialist programs that Sarah used as examples “ensure an equitable distribution of wealth.” These programs do not generate profits. These are functions of our government that we as taxpayers pay to benefit from. We do not receive money from these programs but rather think of them as insurance policies in case of an emergency.
The moral of the story is that Sarah Silverman got owned by the same people she claims to identify with, and it made me so ridiculously happy. And Bernie Sanders will never be the President of the United States of America.
