Texas GOP Chair Floats Forming Union of ‘Law-Abiding’ States After SCOTUS Election Ruling

Texas Republican Party Chairman Allen West on Friday mused whether a group of “law-abiding states” should form a union after the Supreme Court rejected an election challenge filed by Texas earlier this week. “This decision establishes a precedent that says states can violate the US constitution and not be held accountable. This decision will have far-reaching ramifications for the future of our constitutional republic,” West said in a statement. “Perhaps law-abiding states should bond together and form a Union of states that will abide by the constitution.” The U.S. Supreme Court on Friday rejected Texas’s bid to challenge the outcome of the 2020 election results in four battleground states.
