On Sunday, trash bags filled with undelivered mail were found outside a postal employee’s home in Baldwin, Pennsylvania.

The bags were found by special USPS agents and appeared to be on the curb for trash pickup.

CNN reported, “The agents with Postal Service’s Office of Inspector General were responding to a report about undelivered mail on Sunday outside the employee’s home. The employee works at the Mount Oliver post office, according to a statement from Postal Service.”

“USPS OIG Special Agents recovered several different classes of mail, including business mail, flats, and small amount of first class mail,” Special Agent Scott Balfour told CNN in a statement.

“We expect to perform a piece count of the mail today, and make arrangements to have to mail delivered to customers as soon as feasible.”

The discarded mail is one of many examples that have been reported in the news in recent months.

So far, this incident does not appear to involve election ballots. However, stories about lost or discarded mail keep finding themselves in the news.

Adding fuel to the fire, President Trump has been sounding the alarm about mail-in ballots, and Democrats have been accusing President Trump of sabotaging the Post Office.

More Trouble With Mail-In Ballots in Pennsylvania

In September, military ballots cast for President Trump were found discarded in Pennsylvania.

The Political Insider reported, “Officials in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania found nine discarded military mail-in ballots discarded, seven of which were cast for President Trump.”

“The FBI, along with the Pennsylvania State Police, launched an investigation into the missing military ballots, and were able to recover nine so far, although they have said that a ‘small number’ of ballots were discarded,” the report noted.

“Some of the ballots can even be traced back to specific voters.”

More Instances Of Lost Mail and Ballots

Discarded mail that reportedly included mail-in ballots was found in Los Angeles in October.

A claim that trays of mail that included mail-in ballots were found discarded in a ditch in Wisconsin was rated “True” by Snopes on September 29th.

This is despite Wisconsin officials denying that the discarded mail included any mail-in ballots.

To be clear, there is no evidence of any deliberate shenanigans going on – regarding lost mail, or mail-in ballots.

At the same time, in a democracy, there must be an overwhelming belief in the integrity of the franchise.

People need to be able to trust that their mail will actually be delivered, not tossed on the curb in trash bags.

Or found in a ditch beside the highway.
