The 43rd president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, has launched an anti-corruption investigation into the entire executive branch of his government.

A video of Bukele asking the attorney general to investigate the entire executive branch, including cabinet members, for corruption has gone viral on the Internet. You could read on the faces of the officials sitting and gathered at the meeting that they were shocked and surprised by this move. This comes weeks after Bukele launched a counterattack against gangs and mafia in El Salvador.

Bukele, who has been in power for about four years, has declared that he will be a president “who did not steal, but surrounded himself with thieves.” He wants people to remember him as the president who ended corruption.

Telling members in attendance that they were not afraid of the Attorney General, Bukele spoke passionately to the crowd. “I said no to death, well, of course no one wants to die, I don’t want to die, but I know that one day I will die like everyone else, this is something that cannot be escaped from death, all of us who are here, in 100 years there will be no one left alive, no one, none of us who are here, especially since no one knows what the name of Grandpa’s father is, but there is something that I am afraid of, and it leaves a bad legacy ” Bukele said in Spanish. (His comments have been loosely translated into English)

There are a few presidents… but most are remembered as thieves. I don’t want to be remembered as a thief, so I don’t steal because I don’t want to be remembered as a thief or corrupt,” added the Salvadoran leader.

The look on their faces shows that they are surprised and that’s good!

This should be Trump’s first day at the WH!

Presidents Nayib Bukele of El Salvador and Javier Milei of Argentina did took the stage at the Conservative Political Action Conference, one of the most prominent gatherings of conservatives, underscoring the growing alliance between right-leaning Latin American leaders and the Republican Party.

While some Republicans view the bond as a way to save Latin America, the Latin American leaders see it as a strategic way to strengthen their relationship with potential future leaders of the U.S. and influence foreign policy.

“They are trying to make sure they have a good relationship with somebody who could be the next president,” said Eduardo Gamarra, a Florida International University political science professor and a Democrat. “But it’s a double-edged sword because they could ostensibly be latching themselves on to somebody who could lose.”

“Why are Republicans interested? These are very popular Latin American politicians today,” Gamarra said.

What can you expect from a Democrat?

The idea of a regional gathering of like-minded political leaders is not new. For decades, left-wing political parties and activists in Latin America have gathered for a conference known as the Foro de São Paulo. They had success in the early 2000s, with a pink tide where leftist presidents were elected in Venezuela, Brazil, Bolivia, Ecuador, Nicaragua and Argentina.

We can see the results for their policies today!
