DC’s Democrat Mayor Just Admitted Her City Is So Dangerous She Had to Ground Every Kid in the District — Welcome to the Party, Muriel

Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser — a Democrat, in case you forgot — just declared a public emergency in the nation’s capital and reinstated a juvenile curfew. That’s right. The mayor of the city where Congress meets, where the President lives, where every foreign dignitary on earth comes to visit, just had to tell kids they can’t be outside after dark because roving mobs of teenagers have turned the District into a scene from *The Purge*.

Welcome to what conservatives have been saying for about five years now, Muriel. Glad you could finally join us. Only took a full-blown crime wave to get you here.

For months — MONTHS — videos have been flooding social media showing packs of juveniles brawling in the streets, storming into businesses, and robbing people in broad daylight. The “Navy Yard teen takeover” wasn’t some isolated incident. It was the headline on a pattern that anyone with eyes and a Twitter account could see coming from a mile away. Mobs of kids descending on neighborhoods, trashing stores, jumping tourists, and generally treating the capital of the free world like their personal thunderdome.

And what was the official response from D.C.’s progressive leadership for all those months? Crickets. Maybe a sternly worded statement about “community investment” and “root causes.” You know the drill. The same empty garbage that Democrats trot out every single time their cities turn into war zones.

But here’s the beautiful part — and we mean beautiful in the most schadenfreude-soaked way possible. Muriel Bowser just did the thing that every Democrat in America swore was racist, fascist, and probably a violation of the Geneva Convention when Republicans suggested it. A curfew. For juveniles. Enforced by police.

Remember when curfews were “criminalizing youth”? Remember when any suggestion of holding young people accountable for mob violence was met with lectures about systemic inequality and the school-to-prison pipeline? Yeah, that was last Tuesday. Now the Democrat mayor is literally ordering kids off the streets because her city is out of control.

(Funny how “progressive policing” always ends up circling back to the stuff conservatives said to do in the first place, isn’t it?)

This is what happens when you spend years demonizing police, slashing enforcement budgets, and treating juvenile offenders like they’re the real victims. You get mobs of teenagers who know — KNOW — that there are no consequences. They saw the adults in charge wave the white flag years ago. Why wouldn’t they take over the Navy Yard? Who’s going to stop them? The social workers?

And declaring a “public emergency” — that’s not just a policy tweak. That’s an admission of failure. You don’t declare emergencies when things are going well. You declare emergencies when things have gotten so catastrophically bad that you need extraordinary powers just to restore basic order. Muriel Bowser just told the entire world that normal governance in Washington, D.C. has failed. Under her watch. Under Democrat policies. Under the progressive playbook.

We should send her a fruit basket.

The best part? This isn’t some red state where Democrats can blame “MAGA extremism” or whatever the talking point of the week is. This is D.C. Democrats run everything there. The mayor is a Democrat. The city council is overwhelmingly Democrat. The prosecutors are progressive. The judges are progressive. Every single lever of power is controlled by the same people who told us their approach to crime was smarter, more compassionate, and more effective than the conservative alternative.

So how’s that working out? Well, the mayor just had to ground every teenager in the city, so you tell us.

Here’s what’s going to happen next, and you can set your watch by it. Bowser will enforce this curfew for a few weeks, the videos will slow down, crime stats will dip slightly, and she’ll hold a press conference taking credit for “decisive leadership.” Then the ACLU will file a lawsuit, the progressive wing of the D.C. Council will start grumbling about “over-policing,” and the curfew will quietly get rolled back. Six months from now, we’ll be right back where we started — mobs in the streets and Democrats acting shocked.

Because that’s the cycle. Always has been. Democrats create the problem. The problem gets so bad they’re forced to adopt the conservative solution. They take credit for it. Then they abandon it because their base complains. Rinse and repeat.

At least this time we have the receipts. Muriel Bowser just admitted — on the record, in an official emergency declaration — that progressive crime policy in Washington, D.C. has failed so completely that she needs a curfew to keep children from terrorizing the capital.

That’s not us saying it. That’s HER saying it. With her signature on the dotted line.

Frame it and hang it on the wall, folks. This one’s a keeper.
