Conor McGregor, a former UFC champion, criticized former President Donald Trump for calling one of his favorite UFC fighters.
Trump went live on YouTube with Adin Ross, a 23-year-old content creator. The video went viral, as did clips from a Tesla Cybertruck and Trump’s famous dancing moves.
Ross asked the former president about his love of mixed martial arts during a sit-down part of the unusual interview.
“I thought people here would only care about the USA.”
“I know you enjoy the UFC. Who are your favorite fighters?” Ross said.
“I believe Khabib Nurmagomedov… Do you know who Khabib is?” Trump answered. “Khabib was 29-0, and I don’t think he ever lost a round.” I liked him a lot.
When Trump met the now-retired boxer at UFC 302 in June 2024, Nurmagomedov asked him about the war between Israel and Palestine. Trump quickly remembered the story. Trump then said the fighter, who had never lost, had discussed the Russia-Ukraine war with him.
“When I met Khabib, he told me, ‘You are the one who can end the war.’ The war between Russia and Ukraine.
“He knows there are people on both sides, and there have been a lot of deaths on both sides,” Trump said. “We weren’t talking about fighting; we were talking about a much worse kind of fighting.” He was really worried about everything.”
Gen Z Trump fans saw the one-of-a-kind interview as a win, and it was a lot of fun to watch. However, McGregor was very unhappy with the 45th president’s choice of fights.
In some now-deleted posts on X, McGregor criticized Trump for focusing on Nurmagomedov instead of American athletes.
“Decide to end the campaign. What is your favorite UFC (AMERICAN COMPANY) fighter? A smelly, fat mountain monkey from the inbred mountains of Dagestan? Wow. “Abysmal,” McGregor wrote.
The Irishman also said that Trump is not a billionaire and then scolded him for not being “USA ONLY.”

McGregor and Nurmagomedov constantly fought in press conferences. McGregor shocked fans when he threw a dolly through the window of a UFC bus where Nurmagomedov and other fighters were sitting.
Nakhchivan went on to win the fight with a neck crank in the fourth round.
