Pelosi Says Waters Shouldn’t Apologize for Comments on George Floyd Trial

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said on Monday that Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) doesn’t have to apologize for comments calling on protesters to “get more confrontational” over the weekend and sought to defend her colleague. “No, she doesn’t,” Pelosi said in response to a reporter’s question on whether Waters should apologize for making the remarks. “Maxine talked about confrontation in the manner of the civil rights movement,” Pelosi said. “I myself think we should take our lead from the George Floyd family.
