🚨 POLL: Are Gov. Whitmer’s Orders Too Extreme?

A crisis can bring a lot of things to light if you look for them. State and local governments have made it clear that they think the American people don’t love freedom. The handling of this virus has shown us that governors like the governor of Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer, think they have unlimited power over their fellow citizens.

Whitmer has stopped allowing people to buy seeds to plant their food or travel between their full-time residences and their cottages in northern Michigan.

I was fine staying in quarantine while the government and medical systems played catch-up, but this has gone on long enough. When the procedure to care for safety is no longer voluntary but mandatory, it strips away the basics of what being an American is all about.

On Friday, Gov. Whitmer took her authority and ran with it in an order stating what grocery stores can and cannot sell.

The Detroit Free Press reported:

“State residents can’t travel to their Up North cottages, but Illinois residents who own one in Michigan apparently can. In-store purchases of Michigan Lottery tickets are still permitted, but buying a can of paint or a bag of seeds is off-limits. Though many Michigan residents applaud Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s extended and expanded “stay home” order, handed down Thursday, plenty of them are questioning the inconsistencies, and others are outright opposed to the new travel restrictions.”

Another report by The Detroit Free Press says that residents are angry over their inability to visit greenhouses to plant their flowers, fruits, and vegetables. One resident says it is time to plant the fruits and vegetables for her family to eat during the winter, and with these orders in place, she is no longer able to do it.

So let me get this straight: a Michigander can drive to the store to get a lottery ticket but is not able to buy seeds along with that lottery ticket? At what point are we all going to stand up and say enough is enough?

That is probably why over 175,000 people have signed the Change.org petition. (At the time of this article was written.)

According to The Change.org website, the petition was started by a man named John Powell from Flat Rock, MI. His call for the recall states:

“Recall Governor Whitmer. Her failure’s [sic] during the COVID-19 Corona Virus is causing more Michiganders to get sick. Closing and banning various non-essential businesses and activities while leaving others open. [sic] Further promoting the pandemic. [sic] She has lied since day one with her #Fixthedamnroads, which she has failed to do anything in this regard. The response to #PFAS was negligence, and completely removing funding for #PureMichigan clearly shows her lack of anything positive for the State of Michigan.”

Some of the gems from the comment section:

I hope this is the first in a long list of Democrat governors that will be getting similar recall requests. Don’t forget that this is the woman who was thrown in the ring for a possible VP position within a Biden presidency.
