Second Debate Cancelled as Trump and Biden Teams Refuse Compromise

After riding the high of the hilarious sh*tshow the first presidential debate offered, the crash has come. The second debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden has been cancelled.

In light of Trump’s recent Coronavirus diagnosis, the Commission on Presidential Debates announced on October 8th that the next debate, originally scheduled to take place on October 15th in Miami, would be a virtual debate. The Trump campaign responded with an emphatic “Pass.”

“There’s nothing that says that President Trump and Joe Biden can’t debate together without the overlords at the commission having a say in the matter. We would be glad to debate one-on-one without the commission’s interference,” campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh said in a statement.

Hidin’ Biden was naturally thrilled to stay in his cozy basement, but Trump and his team insisted that the precaution was unnecessary. Why giving Trump a COVID-19 test a day or two prior to the debate before making a final call wasn’t on the table is beyond me, but what do I know?

Biden’s team has since scheduled a town hall on the same night to be broadcast by ABC. I’m sure they’re looking forward to the great sound clips they’re already practicing with the questions they’re writing for voters to ask.

The Trump campaign has announced no official plans, as they were initially busy trying to find a compromise.

The Trump campaign, in response to their candidate backing out of the debate, issued three statements on Thursday that slammed the commission, pushed the Biden campaign to agree to an in-person debate and said they would be willing to push the October 15 debate back a week to October 22 and then move the third debate to October 29, just days before the November 3 election.

But Biden’s campaign rejected their proposal, with campaign spokeswoman Kate Bedingfield saying in response, “Donald Trump doesn’t make the debate schedule; the debate commission does.”

But as that was politically inconvenient for Biden, in that he would have to speak in front of a live audience and might accidentally tip off voters to the fact that all those campaign commercials with his voice overs were actually filmed with a teleprompter in a controlled environment, his campaign refused.
So now Trump is in talks with networks about hosting a town hall, not, as NPR disingenuously suggested, planning on a rally rather than a debate.
I would just like to respond by cordially asking everyone involved to GROW THE F*CK UP.
