When Questioned On Wife’s Travel, Illinois Governor Says, “I’m Just Not Going to Answer That Question. It’s Inappropriate.”

Democratic Illinois Governor JB Pritzker was confronted by a local Illinois reporter about his wife’s alleged travel to Florida. Such travel would be considered non-essential at this time and, of course, straight-up just looks bad.

Pritzker has happily extended the stay-at-home order in Illinois into the end of May for no apparent reason.

However, Pritzker did not care for being questioned about his hypocrisy and refused to answer the question.

What would happen if the people of Illinois began refusing to do not do certain things, too?  Not that I’m suggesting people break any laws.

From The Daily Caller:

While Pritzker reportedly makes “regular public pleas for Illinoisans to be ‘All In’” during the stay-at-home order, the billionaire governor’s wife, M.K. Pritzker, “has been out of state,” according to a report from Patch reporter Mark Konkol.

“Specifically, the first lady has been spending time at their $12-million equestrian estate in Wellington, just down the horse trail from Bruce Springsteen, Bill Gates and Billy Joel, the family purchased shortly after J.B. was elected governor last year,” Konkol wrote in the Monday post.

“Where’s the First Lady?” Konkol asked via a question reader. “Is she accompanied by a state security detail? Is she engaged in non-essential travel? What is your response to people who say the stay-at-home order and non-essential travel bans aren’t abided by your family?”

“The first thing I’d like to say is that in politics it used to be that we kept our families out of it,” Pritzker responded. “My official duties have nothing to do with my family. So, I’m just not going to answer that question. It’s inappropriate and I find it reprehensible, honestly that, that, uh that reporter wrote a story about it.”

It’s reprehensible to ask the questions? It’s reprehensible for her to travel when her husband has so clearly lectured Illinoisans about the importance of staying at home?

Of course most people would rather be in Florida than Illinois right now. Is the average Joe in Illinois allowed to travel down to the Sunshine State right now? Or would they be told that was bad and dangerous?

Also, kudos to The Patch reporter. Apparently it’s up to small local news organizations to do investigative reporting these days. The bigger media outlets more often seem to be in bed with those in power. They are more interested in promoting the liberal agenda and protecting Democrats than true investigative journalism or honest reporting.

Breitbart reminds us of Pritzker’s messaging to the people of Illinois.

Early this month, Pritzker launched a statewide initiative dubbed All in Illinois, urging Illinoisans to make a commitment to stay home.

“Every one of us must abide by this to get through this difficult time, so to honor you and to bring us together in our commitment to doing what’s right I’m introducing a new statewide initiative to participate in and it’s called ‘All in Illinois,’” he announced this month.

“‘All in’ is our anthem and point of pride. Illinoisans staying home for the good of each other and the good of our state,” Pritzker continued.

“Be all in. ‘All in Illinois’ means we care about one another, we care about our communities. We are one Illinois, and we’re all in this together,” he said.

What’s sad is how many politicians are making rules they refuse to follow. Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot is still getting haircuts. De Blasio is traveling to go to public parks far from his home.

This hypocrisy isn’t all bad though. Hopefully it wakes people up to the overreach of government. Americans have been quite compliant throughout this time. But how long will people tolerate rules for thee and not for me?
