Famed Democrat Just Switched to Republican — When You’ve Lost the Guy Who Defended OJ, You’ve Lost the Country

Alan Dershowitz — Harvard Law professor emeritus, lifelong Democrat, the man who literally got OJ Simpson acquitted and voted for Hillary Clinton — just officially switched his party registration to Republican. His exact words? “I’ve decided to bite the bullet.”

Bite the bullet! The man says it like he’s agreeing to eat gas station sushi. Buddy, you’re joining the winning team. Pop some champagne. We’ve got better food over here anyway.

Here’s the thing about Dershowitz that makes this so delicious. This isn’t some random pundit who got red-pilled watching YouTube videos at 2 AM. This is one of the most famous legal minds in American history. He taught at Harvard for fifty years. He defended clients ranging from OJ to Jeffrey Epstein’s accusers to — wait for it — President Trump during his first impeachment trial. The man’s legal career is a Netflix series waiting to happen.

And he looked at today’s Democrat Party and said, “Nah, I’m good.”

Dershowitz has been drifting rightward for years now, and we’ve all been watching it happen in slow motion. He defended Trump’s constitutional rights during impeachment and the Democrats treated him like he’d committed treason. His old friends at Harvard stopped returning his calls. He got disinvited from cocktail parties on Martha’s Vineyard. (The horror! Where will he eat overpriced lobster rolls now?)

But the party switch makes it official, and the symbolism here is enormous. This is a man who voted Democrat in every single presidential election for over sixty years. He campaigned for Hillary. He supported Obama. He was the textbook definition of a “liberal who believes in civil liberties” — back when the Democrat Party still pretended to care about those.

So what changed? Well, everything.

The Democrats went from the party of free speech and due process to the party of censorship, kangaroo courts, and weaponized prosecution. They used the justice system to go after a former president. They cheered when Trump got indicted. They called anyone who questioned the process a “threat to democracy.” And Dershowitz — a man who has spent his entire career defending the Constitution — watched all of this and realized he was standing in a party that no longer believed in any of it.

“I’ve decided to bite the bullet,” he said. Translation: “These people are insane and I can’t pretend anymore.”

The Democrats’ response has been predictable. They’re already calling him a sellout, a grifter, a traitor. The same people who celebrated him when he was defending their causes now act like he’s a stranger. That’s how the Left works — you’re a hero until you disagree with them, and then you’re the enemy. Ask Elon Musk how that goes.

But here’s what the Democrats should really be worried about. Dershowitz isn’t switching parties because he moved right. He’s switching because the Democrats moved so far left that a classical liberal now fits better with Republicans. Think about that. The party of JFK, the party that used to champion individual rights and a strong national defense, has become so radical that a Harvard Law legend feels more at home with the GOP.

When you’ve lost Alan Dershowitz — a man who defended OJ Simpson, voted for Hillary Clinton, and spent half a century as the most famous liberal lawyer in America — you haven’t just lost a voter. You’ve lost the argument.

We welcome Professor Dershowitz to the team. Someone get this man a red hat. He’s earned it.
